Choose one situation

Pick a moment you can imagine clearly: introducing yourself, buying a coffee or greeting a neighbour. Write down the two or three things you need to say. A small, repeatable situation is easier to practise than an entire topic.

Build a short exchange

In French, try “Bonjour, je m’appelle Alex.” In German, try “Hallo, ich heiße Alex.” Add a greeting and a simple question. Practise both sides of the exchange so that you prepare to listen as well as speak.

Give yourself a useful way to pause

You do not have to understand everything immediately. “Pouvez-vous répéter, s’il vous plaît ?” and “Können Sie das bitte wiederholen?” both ask someone politely to repeat. A phrase like this keeps the conversation open.

Try it, then change one detail

Say the exchange out loud. Then change the name, drink or location and repeat it. The goal is to make a useful sentence easier to adapt, not to perform a perfect script.
